New Commissioner for International Religious Freedom

We are excited to announce that Dr. David Anderson has been appointed to serve as a commissioner on the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF).

USCIRF is an independent, bipartisan federal commission that monitors religious freedom conditions around the world and advises U.S. policymakers on how to protect people from religious persecution. Dr. Anderson will serve in this volunteer role for a two-year term.

For Dr. Anderson, the appointment represents both an extraordinary honor and a new opportunity to continue a mission he has pursued throughout his life and ministry.

“I am humbled and deeply grateful for the opportunity to serve God, our country, and people around the world who are being persecuted because of their faith or religious beliefs,” Dr. Anderson shared.

Throughout his work as a pastor, author, communicator, radio host, and bridge-building leader, Dr. Anderson has consistently sought to bring people together across divides of color, class, culture, and belief. His leadership through Bridgeway Community Church, Real Talk with Dr. David Anderson, and Gracism Global has centered on standing with the downtrodden and bringing grace and Gracism into places marked by division, injustice, and pain.

This appointment provides a new platform for that work. It will allow Dr. Anderson to bring decades of experience in ministry, reconciliation, multicultural leadership, and international bridge-building to the global effort to defend freedom of religion or belief as a fundamental human right.

Dr. Anderson sees this new responsibility as a natural extension of the work God has already entrusted to him.

“I receive this appointment not simply as an individual honor, but as another opportunity to carry the work of bridge-building into a divided and hurting world,” he shared.

As a commissioner, Dr. Anderson will help evaluate religious freedom conditions around the world and contribute to recommendations offered to the President, Congress, and the U.S. Department of State. His service will focus on protecting people of all faiths and beliefs from persecution and advocating for the dignity and freedom of every human being.

While this appointment expands the reach of his work, Dr. Anderson will continue serving as senior pastor of Bridgeway Community Church, the church family and multicultural community from which much of his bridge-building ministry has grown.

Whether through Bridgeway Community Church, The Real Talk Radio Show, Gracism Global, or USCIRF, Dr. Anderson’s desire remains the same: to love the Lord, love people, and serve with wisdom, courage, and grace.
